Given the increasingly populairty of the race among UK punters over the last few years, you’ll find that a handful of UK betting sites now offer a good selection of bets on the event. It is only a handful, unfortunately, with William Hill being the only two that offer coverage, with the others focusing mostly on races from the British Isles. Keep reading down below for the full Associtation Cup greyhound betting sites report.

Association Cup Betting Promotions

When it comes to Australian greyhound races, British punters are somewhat unfortunate in that we rarely get the opportunity to cash in on some of the bonuses and promotions on offer when the big events come around. Companies such as William Hill and Ladbrokes that have active operations in Australia do run promotions for their clients down under but these, unfortunately, rarely extend to us. Of course, keep your eyes peeled, particularly on the Paddy Power promotions page as they always have a good selection of daily deals on offer, however, it is unlikely that you’ll find a large number of Association Cup betting offers.

Association Cup Odds

On average, Association Cup betting odds levels tend to be pretty good. Because it is one of the more popular events in the global greyhound racing calendar it demands widespread attention, and thus betting sites are under a bit more pressure to make sure they offer their customers good prices in order to compete with the competition. Because of this, you can expect to find odds of around 79-81%.

Facts

The fastest time ever run in the Association Cup is currently 43.11 seconds and was set by a female greyhound named Flash Joan, owned by L Miller, in 2001. She also won the Schweppes National Futurity in 2000 and the Vic Peter Memorial Class in 1999, both of which are held at Wentworth Park.

The Association Cup boasts being the one and only group 1 staying race in the whole of New South Wales, which explains why is draws such widespread attention and attracts only the best distance runners around. In an attempt to further boost its popularity, in 2012 the time and place of the event was moved to coincide with the famous Golden Easter Egg, the Group 1 middle-distance race. Now, the two events are held on the same evening, marking the evening as one of the best-attended greyhound events in Australasia.

Historical Info

The Association Cup is one of the more widely-respected distances races run in Australia. In its early years it was run on a grass track over a distance 732 metres and was held at the Harold Park Stadium. In 1988 it found its new home at Wentworth Park and was moved onto a grass track with the distance being reduced down to 720 metres – the distance at which it continues to be run, however, since 1992 it has been run on sand.

With an overall purse of around $85,000 and a guaranteed prize of $75,000 for the lucky winner the Association Cup is the richest staying race in the New South Wales, making it one of the most sought-after greyhound racing events in the country. The honour roll includes Zoom Top, a female owned and bred by Hex Watt, who won the race in 1968 & 1970; Bold Trease, who is remembered for winning the Sandown Cup an unprecedented four years in a row; and Sweet It Is, who managed to win the Sandown Cup twice (2014 & 2015).
